Remtergarten Corvey

The Remtergarten surrounding Corvey Castle was redesigned as part of the Höxter 2023 Garden Show. Historically, the garden was used by the monks of the former Corvey Monastery for horticultural cultivation. In 2020, nothing of the garden's original structure remained and the entire area had been used as a Christmas tree plantation for decades. An abstract reinterpretation of the basic Baroque structure, which is only vaguely documented, divides the Remtergarten into four different sections: kitchen garden, pharmacy garden, rose garden and an open garden meadow. Small squares with individually designed water bowls form places in the gardens and invite visitors to linger. In future, the garden will be in direct interaction and dialog with Corvey Castle and the Carolingian Westwerk World Heritage Site.
