The working title ‘Stadtlichtung’ translates and symbolizes the appreciation of Tempelhofer Feld as Berlin's most ‘public’ space. Less park, more landscape. The clearing will be framed, not structurally, but by a differentiated fringe that meets many requirements, is multifaceted in design and lively in use. Five groves are derived from the adjoining urban quarters. They accommodate a variety of uses and form the small-scale playable counterpart to the expanse - gardens, play areas, sports, retreats, shade. On the other hand, wide and open meadow windows take up the references to the entrées of the field. The wide middle of the meadow is retained in its entirety, while along the circular taxiway and on the runways, varied spatial sequences of different atmospheres are created. More central than centrally located and unique in its character and history - it will continue to be one of the most important open spaces for the metropolis in the future. The wide horizon in the middle of the city. The quality of the informal and spontaneous.
