Inner city Crailsheim
Crailsheim’s downtown and the floodplains of the Jagst and Trutenbach rivers are situated in close proximity. In addition to enhancing the area’s appeal as a location for retail and events, the downtown is once again becoming a livable urban space for the city’s residents. A uniform, appropriately scaled, and—above all—age-gracefully granite paving is planned for all areas. To ensure the downtown area is sustainably developed for the future in the face of increasingly hot summers, the existing tree population will be preserved and significantly expanded. Approximately 200 trees will provide shaded areas for people to linger. The basis for the redesign is a comprehensive reorganization of on-street parking. As the first phase of planning, the Schweinemarkt—the heart of the downtown area—is currently being addressed. Additional phases are expected to follow in the coming years.
