Grüne Kammerratsheide is being developed for the future, building on its fragmented yet highly valuable landscape, both in terms of atmosphere and narrative. Under the working title ‘The Rediscovery of Slowness’, an open space is emerging that offers great diversity, varied possibilities for use and appropriation, and multifaceted interpretations. Layers of the past and stories intertwine with the new traces of future uses being inscribed into the park. Active urban and extensive nature-oriented elements come together in a robust and flexibly structured framework for open space. Large events, even bigger celebrations, short and long walks, play for all, wild meadows and thorny hiding places, hot sun and cooling shade.

Where possible, the open space will be designed to be accessible and for everyone. Building sensibly – resource-efficient, climate-adapted and water-sensitive. An open space framework – robust and flexible – forward-looking and adaptable. A phased development is planned, starting with access provision, through initial installations and new locations. Through ongoing consultation and dialogue with local people – on site.
