Historic Town Centre, Bad Kissingen

The old town of Bad Kissingen is characterised by a large number of owner-operated shops and restaurants. The public space however still has a heterogeneous and disordered appearance and does not currently do justice to its urban significance. The design hierarchically classifies and differentiates three areas: the market square, the market streets and the alleys. The covering, with identical material and colour, varies accordingly in terms of format. Recessed rows divide the streets, alleys and squares into a space for movement and an area for displays and gastronomy. These rows simultaneously guide visually through the old town area. This provides greatest possible flexibility for temporary displays such as markets and other events.
