History Park Fort Asterstein

The city-wide spread four different parts of the Großfestung Koblenz and their open spaces are part of the UNESCO world heritage Mittleres Rheintal. Especially Fortress Emperor Franz and Fort Asterstein offer great potential to form essential links in the city's open space network. As a first realisation step the historic fortress is "made visible" and accessed by a minimal and barrier-free path network. The history-park forms an open space accentuating the multilayered history of the site. A long-time development concept has been developed and discussed in parallel. An information system connects the different sites of the Großfestung and objects in their local surrounding. These first steps are planned to be realised until the end of 2019.
